SAT stands for Scholastic Assessment Test, one of the standardized tests designed for students enrolled in undergraduate courses abroad. SAT examines candidates’ skills based on written, verbal, and mathematical skills. The examination was initially introduced with the paper-pencil test, but the college board introduced new patterns of digital SAT exams.
The Online SAT exam has one hour less duration than the traditional exam. Also, students are allowed to carry their own iPads, tablets & laptops under SAT digital examination centres. International students aiming to target abroad education register themselves for the SAT examination. The syllabus and question patterns are slightly different from the traditional mode. It covers easy as well as complex questions to test candidates’ knowledge.
Overview of Digital SAT Test Syllabus
Verbal Section: Reading and Writing
Reading Section
The main objective of this section is to assess students’ ability of language readiness, comprehension, and basic grammar. Under the reading & writing section, students will get multiple-choice questions with long passages. Candidates had to read whole paragraphs smartly, understand the meaning, and then move towards answering the questions.
The verbal section contains two same-length modules. Both have a 32 minutes time limit and contain 25 questions each. Each module allocated time separately. Students can move backwards and forward between questions in a given module filmik.
To ace the reading section of the digital SAT exam, students have to learn the concepts of interpreting tables, charts, and graphs. The best tip to increase the accuracy level under the section is to practice more by reading questions. Candidates can try for a full-length test that helps in improving their scores. Apart from reading and comprehending, better analyzing can also be helpful in solving complex questions.
Writing Section
The Digital SAT exam requires a good conceptual understanding of topics, such as standard English conventions, expression of Ideas, words in context, and command of evidence. Writing skills cover grammar, punctuation, and effective use of language. A few topics like subject-verb agreement, parallelism, pronoun usage, and modifiers can improve writing patterns. The main aim is to test the knowledge of correction & identification of errors.
Math Section
The candidate’s mathematical knowledge is tested with case-based questions in the digital SAT math syllabus. You will get two parts under math sections with a 35 minutes time limit and 20 questions each.
Most of the concepts covered in the SAT math section are from the 6th to 10th grades. It covers arithmetic, geometry, algebra, statistics, and basic trigonometry. It also touches on a few basics of quadratic and exponential functions questions. It doesn’t contain topics of imaginary or complex numbers. If candidates solve it with a systematic approach, there is more chance of scoring well in the upcoming SAT examination.
Topics under Math Section: SAT exam pattern focuses on three core areas of mathematical concepts: algebra, problem-solving & data analysis, and Advance math. Under algebra, students can prepare topics related to linear inequalities in two variables, their graphical representation of a linear function, a system of linear equations, and a linear equation with rational coefficients.
For Data analysis, they can prepare with the association of variables, independence of events, and statistical concepts like range & standard deviation. Also, study the data collection methods, calculation of mean, median & mode, percentage, ratio & proportion, unit conversion, equation of line or curve, and two-way tables to calculate conditional frequencies and probabilities.
Advanced math concepts, such as zeros and factors of polynomials, multiplication and division of polynomial equations, and function notation. Non-linear relationship between two variables, isolation of a variable by rearrangement of formula or equation, Quadratic equations with rational coefficients, addition & subtraction.
Pattern of Digital SAT Exam
Reading & Writing Section
The examination will be held in two stages, separately with modules. Under the first module, there will be 25 operational questions, along with two pretest questions. The second module follows the same pattern as 25 operational & 2 pretest questions. So, in total, there will be 54 questions to solve within 64 minutes and 32 minutes each. Topics tested here are literature, history or social studies, humanities & science. Questions can be in the form of tables, bar graphs, and line graphs.
Math Section
It will also be scheduled in two stages; each module contains 20 operational & 2 pretest questions to solve within 35 minutes each. In total, the math section contained 44 questions for 70 minutes. Also, the questions types will be 75% multiple choice-based questions and the rest 25% of student-produced responses.
Summing Up!
The digital Scholastic Assessment Test or SAT holds an advantage over traditional paper-pencil mode. It can help with fast assessment. Candidates can timely register for their choice of abroad universities & colleges. There will be no negative marking, but students have to keep in mind incorrect answers do not overshadow their overall SAT scores with multistage adaptive nature.
